Introduction/Description
The Associate Degree in Psychology is a regular 2-year degree program which has been designed to
equip the students with requisite knowledge and skills which would help them taking an early start
of their professional career so that they can earn their livings and support their families too.
Note: Candidates holding Associate Degree can continue towards
respective BS 4-year degree program. Or the student can apply for new admission towards any BS
4-Year degree program (Subject to admission eligibility with exemption/transfer of relevant
qualified courses) as per policy.
Program Objectives
Following are the main objectives of the Program:

To provide a strong theoretical basis about the principles, history, and research approaches
in Psychology;

To equip students with conceptual tools and scientific knowledge about human existence in
general;

To articulate how psychological principles can be used to explain and understand the
dynamics of social and psychological issues;
Admission Eligibility Criteria
Intermediate (equivalent to 12 years of education) with at least 45% marks

Course Exemption
Course exemption is not allowed.
Duration
It is a two-year full time study program spread over four semesters. Each semester has at least 18
weeks duration for teaching and examinations etc.

Assessment of Study Progress
The students’ study progress evaluation mechanism is based on continuous assessment throughout the
semester by giving assignments, on-line quizzes, Graded Discussion Board (GDB), mid-term and final
term exams. The mid-term and final term exams are conducted at VUP’s designated centers and usually
count for 80 to 85% of the total marks for a course.
Award of Degree
To be eligible for the award of Associate Degree in Psychology, a student is required to earn
prescribed number of credit hours with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 out
of 4.
